Here at TECHEAD we pride ourselves on staying current with new and innovative ideas in the technology community. Having been in business for over 25 years we understand what it takes to make it in the industry and last, so in 2010 when a small start-up company based in Southern California began to take off, we knew it would become the next big thing.
Capitalizing on the strength of Apple’s iPhone and the emergence of digital apps, Instagram, became a mainstream success, raking in 30 million iOS users in only 18 months. By April 2012 Instagram gained so much notoriety that everyone was starting to take notice, even the social media dragon, Facebook. Purchasing Instagram for $1 billion, made its largest acquisition to date. Instagram was the next big hit and everyone was trying to jump on the bandwagon.
The question on everyone’s mind was, “How did they do it?” They started with an idea, which was the easy part. They needed to get everyone to believe in their idea and they did just that. Maybe they adopted some of the policies that Facebook had become known for such as the motto, “Done is better than perfect.” This just means that key to moving ahead is following through. Although it may not be perfect, making sure your ideas see light of day is certainly an important factor.
We often spend so much time trying to perfect the right idea over-analyzing and tweaking that we often become discouraged and never finish. If you never get a chance to put it out there and have it seen then you haven’t progressed anywhere. What we often fail to realize is that people want things now, they don’t want to wait and there is always room for improvement, but if you haven’t taken that first step then you can’t improve on anything.
Seeking perfection usually ends up holding us back from our main goals and actually makes you less productive. So from now on try to focus on completing your tasks with the resources and time that you have available. Once you start to adopt the mindset that “Done is better than perfect” you will start to see an increase in innovation and productivity allowing your business to grow and who knows you could become the next big hit!
