Job Description:

Network Engineer (CAN/LAN)

Clearance Level: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph

Required Experience: 16 years (combination of work history and education).

Job Summary:

Provide network engineering support for CAN/LAN services, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret customer requirements and apply standard design approaches.
  • Document designs with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, etc.
  • Evaluate new technologies and capabilities in a private test lab.
  • Schedule maintenance windows for migrating user connections.
  • Provide technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians.
  • Develop secure network designs that align with DISA STIGs and enterprise policies.
  • Obtain ATO for new devices, software, and capabilities.
  • Supervise network support specialists.
  • Develop and improve design products, processes, and systems.
  • Learn and work on MPLS WANs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 (Security+ CE).
  • Experience in network engineering, including Tier III or higher operations and/or design and implementation.
  • Experience with Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper production network hardware configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with OSPF and BGP in a production network.
  • Hands-on experience with VLANs, 802.1q, and port-channels in a production network.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Network engineering and design experience specific to CAN/LAN.
  • Experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
  • Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols.
  • Extensive BGP experience.
  • CCNP or equivalent knowledge.
  • Initiative and discipline to work unsupervised.
  • Experience establishing process, developing documents, and organizing repositories.
