Job Description:
As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and compliance of government and commercial projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspection and Monitoring: Inspect and monitor work performed on hull, mechanical, and piping systems.
- Documentation Review: Review work packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct in-process and weld surveillances, and assist with final work package reviews.
- Auditing: Perform internal and external audits to evaluate compliance and supplier performance.
- Corrective Actions: Prepare Corrective Action Requests and Preventative Action Requests as needed.
- Project Support: Assist Program Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors with compliance and documentation.
- General Support: Assist production in various tasks like fire watch, tank watch, cleaning, and material control.
- Non-Supervisory Support: Provide assistance to onsite management for quality assurance, safety, and other needs.
- Inspections and Testing: Perform NDT and QA inspections and testing as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in waterfront NDT, Quality Inspection/Testing.
- Experience: Equivalent experience may be substituted with a completed Maritime Trade School/Apprenticeship or military service with relevant certifications.
- Travel: Must be able to travel extensively (85%).
- Certifications: NDT Level II certification, Quality Control Inspector certification, Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) desired, NACE/NBPI (desired).
- Base Access: Must be able to obtain and maintain access to U.S. Military bases and shipyards.
- Knowledge: Knowledgeable in shipyard, maritime, commercial practices, quality assurance, safety, metal-work, and contracting methods.
- Skills: Safety analysis, quality control analysis, active listening, critical thinking, writing, instructing, judgment and decision making, computer proficiency.
- Abilities: Reading comprehension, written communication, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, category flexibility, visual color discrimination, deductive reasoning.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically access ships, small craft, and submarines.
