Junior SAP Operational Support

Norfolk, VA
Hybrid – Onsite 4 days a week.
Permanent residents only; no c/c
Supporting the need to perform operational tasks in Group Business applications (S/4HANA, SAP PI/PO) and effectively monitor and troubleshoot their integration with local systems is critical for the overall service delivery.
Basic Purpose:
The basic purpose of the role is to ensure the smooth functioning of the Group business applications, which are under the position’s responsibility. These applications are mainly SAP related: SAP ERP, SAP PI/POetc. S/he performs operational activities, records errors and post-processes them. S/he works closely with the Group IT Integration team, local IT applications teams and local IT infrastructure team.
Principal Accountabilities:
Monitoring of Group Applications
Monitors the correct operation of interfaces between local and Group business applications and the integrity of the transactions and data.
Monitors background jobs and batch processes.
Utilizes various monitoring tools as provided such as directly reviewing system console messages, event logs, emails alerts or automated monitoring tools.
Records all errors occurred in interfaces between applications.
Post-processes errors.
Serves as first level support for minor and repetitive issues.
Logs and reports problems identified throughout the shift utilizing a defined “problem tracking and reporting mechanism”; assists in problem identification and resolution.
Trouble-shoots performance issues, requiring assistance only when complex situations arise.
Communicating / Escalating issues
Communicates with relevant business users in order to inform them about any malfunctioning of the interfaces or batch processes.
Collaborates with business users to understand any type of malfunctioning.
Updates applications’ users about any changes made and consults them about actions that they need to perform.
Escalates issues to 2nd level support of Group IT Business applications or infrastructure teams.
Works closely with local IT Business applications team, Group IT Infrastructure team and Group IT Business applications team.
Performing Operational Tasks
Performs operational tasks for Group business applications following a documented and predefined process on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Logs all errors, results and statistics for the tasks s/he performs.
Implements checks and balances routines associated with data transmissions.
Follows operational IT processes to ensure compliance with policies.
Dimensions of the role:
Although the role does not have any financial or managerial responsibility, it is essential for S/4HANA system stability.
Skills, qualifications, experience, language required:
Specialist skills/experience
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Strong understanding of business applications and business processes.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Excellent team worker; Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective oral and written skills in English.
Excellent customer service skills.
Desired Qualifications.
Experience in applications or IT operations is considered a strong advantage.
Experience with SAP ERP, SAP BW or SAP PI/PO is considered a strong advantage but not mandatory.
Working experience in big-sized, multinational industrial company(-ies).
