Job Description:

TECHEAD is seeking a Software Database Engineer for a long-term contract role with a premier non-profit client.  This developer will build up web pages (using Django or similar) for an internal team to view reports and also create ETL processes working with a large electronic health registry.


You’ll work with a project team supporting one of the most well-known hospital systems in the country! 

Fully Remote but must live in Central or Eastern Time Zone

12+ month contract

The Software Engineer will design and develop the web pages and backend applications and processes to support a data registry being developed by client. The registry will appear as dashboard visualizations to end users using embedded Tableau, and there will be ETL development required to validate, transform, and ingest data from external electronic health record systems into the registry’s PostgreSQL database.

This person works closely with other team members to provide system documentation and artifacts required for maintaining the system’s Authority to Operate. The system is hosted in a Google Virtual Private Cloud and managed by a third-party partner.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and analyzes system requirements for completeness and develops system applications and processes to meet those requirements.
  • Advises Project Manager and Project Coordinator on matters regarding the design and implementation of the user-facing pages and backend processes
  • Supports the gathering of information to support the documentation of artifacts required to accredit the system in order to achieve and maintain an Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Support the necessary system scans to assess or demonstrate compliance with IT security controls and document weaknesses and vulnerabilities found, if any.
  • Support the monitoring of the system for security related incidents, evaluate current threats and provide recommendations for remediation and reporting for any identified incidents as requested
  • Participates in the QA of developed solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized and meet the defined system and functional requirements
  • Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts as needed to complete the system’s documentation package
  • Supports the change management processes to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Supports the development and maintenance of other project deliverable documentation, if needed

 Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • 3 years’ experience developing web pages using Django (or similar), backend applications, and ETL processes.
  • 1 years experience with PostgreSQL development / maintenance.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication.
  • Ability to produce high-quality documentation and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

 Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies (or related field) 
  • Familiarity of FedRAMP, FISMA and NIST RMF Information Security Policies and Best Practices.
  • Familiarity with current NIST Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) and Special Publications (SP): SP800-18, SP800-37, SP800-53, SP800-53A, SP800-60, FIPS-199, FIPS-201 and FIPS-140-2, and other policies and their application to enterprise IT security.
