Job Description:
Powerbuilder Developer – Onsite in Norfolk, VA!
Join our dynamic team in the heart of Norfolk and take ownership of developing and enhancing cutting-edge government off-the-shelf (GOTS) client software! As a Powerbuilder Developer, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, crafting secure, robust applications for a critical Windows-based platform. This isn’t just maintenance; you’ll be building new functionalities and tackling exciting challenges alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking group.
Your Mission:
- Dive into approved change requests, working hand-in-hand with Application SMEs to bring them to life.
- Architect and develop new features for our custom GOTS client software, ensuring top-tier security and performance.
- Be a security champion! You’ll help identify and squash vulnerabilities, implementing DoD STIGs to fortify our software.
- Drive innovation by championing software development best practices and pinpointing areas for process improvement. Your ideas will make a real impact!
- Thrive in our highly collaborative environment, where your initiative in identifying solutions and influencing the team will be highly valued.
- Master the art of deployment by developing seamless installation packages with VisualStudio and Wix, including smooth upgrade paths.
- See the bigger picture! Apply a “system of systems” mindset to create sharp requirements, design documentation, and analyze the impact of modifications.
- Become a go-to expert, providing deep-level technical support to our end users.
- Keep project leads and management in the loop with clear and concise status updates.
- Contribute to the team’s growth by assisting in the creation of work proposals and technical documentation.
- Embrace new challenges and perform other duties that will contribute to the success of our projects.
What You’ll Bring:
- Rock-solid knowledge of PowerBuilder, specifically:
- Powerbuilder 2017 R3 and above
- Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise v15 and above
- PowerBuilder Foundation Classes (PFC) expertise
- Mastery of dynamic data windows
- Deep understanding of MDI (Multiple Document Interface)
- Proven Object-Oriented Programming skills
- Strong grasp of Relational Database constructs
- Experience with Configuration Management tools (SVN, Ant build scripting, JIRA)
- Proficiency with session management tools like Putty and WinSCP.
- Familiarity with essential supporting tools: JIRA, Crucible, Jenkins Automation Server, and SVN.
- Solid understanding of supporting OS: Linux OS 6 and above.
- Database wizardry: ability to create and manipulate stored procedures, views, and tables in Sybase and Oracle.
- Bonus points for knowledge of web technologies: Eclipse, Perl, Apache-Tomcat, Java, HTML, Javascript, JSP, Hibernate, and Jboss.
- Extra kudos for working knowledge of AWS and Azure HCI!
- Even more beneficial: Knowledge of SOAP and RESTful Web Services Access Protocols, Reflection Terminal Emulation, and SOAPUI for web service testing.
The Essentials:
- Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Must have CompTIA Security+ or better credentials.
