Web Development Lead (Sr Web Developer)
Full Time | Remote – Some Meetings in VA Beach
Our Client is seeking a Web Development Lead to drive execution and innovation across a variety of digital builds—from modern headless sites to legacy WordPress platforms. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented developer who’s confident in their code, collaborative with designers and marketers, and passionate about user experience and performance.
You’ll lead web projects from strategy to deployment, working closely with a junior developer and cross-functional teams. You’ll help define our dev standards, contribute to technical architecture decisions, and play a key role in optimizing our web output for both speed and SEO.
What You’ll Do
● Lead front-end development across client projects using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Svelte/SvelteKit framework
● Integrate headless CMS platforms (e.g., Sanity, WordPress) using GraphQL or REST APIs
● Maintain and update legacy WordPress websites as needed
● Collaborate with designers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of creative work
● Ensure all sites are optimized for performance, accessibility, and SEO
● Deploy and manage sites using modern tools like Vercel
● Support and mentor a junior developer; help establish and evolve best practices
● Troubleshoot and debug issues across a variety of platforms and browsers
● Stay current with emerging technologies and bring new ideas to the table
● Work with marketing and analytics teams to support tracking, testing, and optimization initiatives What We’re Looking For
● 3+ years of front-end development experience in an agency or fast-paced environment
● Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and modern front-end frameworks
● Working knowledge of databases, API architecture, and basic server-side principles
● Familiarity with technical SEO, schema markup, and best practices for indexability and performance
● Experience with WordPress (including theme modification and plugin usage)
● Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and responsive design
● Version control (Git) and modern deployment workflows
● Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to self-manage deadlines and priorities
Added Advantages
● Experience with A/B testing, analytics integration, or marketing funnels
● Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG)
● Familiarity with marketing concepts like conversion optimization and landing page best practices
● Experience working with marketing or analytics teams
