Job Description:
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) will play a critical role in maintaining the security posture and compliance of sensitive Information Systems (IS) within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment, primarily supporting Air Force (AF) missions. This role requires a strong background in cybersecurity policy enforcement, technical system administration, and high-level security program management, including support for Top Secret (TS)/SCI/SAP programs.
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity Program Management & Compliance

Maintain and Improve Security Posture: Proactively ensure operational security, enhance situational awareness, and initiate corrective actions to restore or improve cybersecurity postures.

Policy Enforcement: Assist in the strict enforcement of AF cybersecurity instructions, policies, procedures, and countermeasures.

Compliance Validation: Support the cybersecurity program by ensuring and validating compliance with security publications, including Communications Security (COMSEC), Computer Security (COMPUSEC), and TEMPEST standards.

Risk Mitigation: Initiate protective and corrective measures in response to cybersecurity incidents or vulnerabilities, and manage documentation for security exceptions, deviations, or waivers.

Training & Access Control: Ensure all users complete required cybersecurity training before granting access to AF information systems and maintain all authorized user network access documents.

Asset Management: Document, operate, maintain, and dispose of all acquired assets in accordance with security Authorization & Accreditation (A&A) documentation.

Support High-Level Programs: Specifically support TS/SCI/SAP Information System Security Programs, managing overall program information security to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified data, including Advanced Fighter Development data.
IT Operations & Technical Support

Service Desk & LAN Support: Provide the full range of LAN, PC, and cellular support services, including central network management, PC hardware maintenance, and cellular administration.

Configuration & Troubleshooting: Configure network software parameters for new locations and quickly resolve connectivity issues. Possess strong technical and analytical skills to address and implement solutions for improved information systems management.

On-Call Support: React to critical, time-sensitive issues, providing 24×7 on-call LAN support after business hours and responding to support requests within two hours.

Strategic Planning: Offer technical, analytical, and strategic input for future financial planning, system upgrades, roadmap considerations, and long-term projects.
Required Qualifications
Security Clearances & Certifications

Clearance: Active TOP SECRET DoD Clearance with eligibility for upgrade to SCI/SAP.

Certification: CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent IAT Level II certification) is required and must be valid on the first day of employment.
Technical Skills & Experience

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of network administration experience.

Operating Systems: Proficient working with Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10).

Directory Services: Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.

Hardware/Software Proficiency: Proficient with computer, network, and server hardware, and strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues.

Communication & Collaboration: Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (O365/2016), including Teams, Skype for Business, and Outlook.
