Job Description:
Cybersecurity and IT Operations Specialist
This is a critical role blending Cybersecurity expertise with essential IT operations and asset management to ensure the security, functionality, and compliance of vital information systems within our organization. You will be the linchpin that secures our digital infrastructure and manages key resources, directly contributing to mission readiness.
Core Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity and IT Operations Specialist, you will manage three key areas of support, maintaining the integrity and availability of our systems.
1. Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

Cybersecurity Program Ownership: Design, execute, and govern the customer organization’s comprehensive Information Assurance (IA) program. This involves identifying, documenting, and ensuring compliance across all IA requirements, personnel training, and established procedures.

Security Posture Maintenance: Drive continuous improvement of the organization’s security posture by ensuring full alignment with all applicable DoD and Air Force Cybersecurity Directives and Instructions.
2. Functional Systems Administration (FSA)

System Availability & Configuration: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the optimal configuration and operational readiness of all networked devices. This includes ensuring servers, workstations, peripherals, communication devices, and application software are properly configured, online, and fully available to end-users.

Operational Integrity: Proactively monitor and maintain system functionality to minimize downtime and ensure seamless service delivery.
3. IT Asset and Property Management

Compliance and Accountability: Directly support the Primary Property Custodian in upholding stringent asset management responsibilities. This requires ensuring the organization’s compliance with all local, Air Force, and DoD regulations for hardware asset tracking and accountability.

Documentation & Training: Assist with compliance audits, maintain accurate inventory tracking using approved databases/tools (e.g., SharePoint sites), and help train personnel on proper asset management procedures.
Required Qualifications

Experience & Education: A High School Diploma combined with 5 years of hands-on experience in Cybersecurity practices within the Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

Certifications: DoD 8570/8140 compliance is mandatory, with CompTIA Security+ certification required.

Clearance: Active Secret security clearance is required.

Knowledge & Skills:

Deep knowledge of Air Force, DoD, and Federal Cybersecurity Directives and Instructions.

Strong critical thinking skills for efficient problem identification and resolution.

Exceptional written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to work dynamically and effectively on both formal and informal projects, conducting necessary technical interchanges with diverse teams.

Outstanding customer service focus to support user needs while maintaining strict security standards.
