Techead is seeking a Senior-level Data Analytics Engineer for a full-time, remote/hybrid role to lead the development of a foundational data engineering layer. This individual contributor role focuses on owning the end-to-end analytics process, from designing core data models to establishing scalable best practices for a growing organization.
Core Responsibilities
The role is divided into three primary areas of ownership:
- Building the Data Foundation:
- Design and implement a “single source of truth” using dimensional modeling, star schemas, and modular data marts.
- Manage modern infrastructure utilizing tools such as dbt, Snowflake, and Git, including the implementation of CI/CD patterns.
- Establish scalable standards for data testing, documentation, naming conventions, and dataset ownership.
- Implement data quality checks and observability practices to improve organizational trust in data.
- Enabling Self-Serve Insights:
- Develop curated datasets and semantic layers to ensure consistent and reliable BI reporting.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured, reusable data products rather than one-off queries.
- Create dashboards and analytics tools that empower stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and GTM (Go-To-Market) to self-serve confidently.
- Technical Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional projects from discovery to delivery, influencing business outcomes through technical expertise.
- Collaborate with product managers during discovery phases to identify high-leverage problems solvable through data.

Experience |
5 to 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI with senior-level scope. |

SQL & Warehousing |
Advanced proficiency in SQL and cloud data warehouses, specifically Snowflake. |

Modeling & Tools |
Strong hands-on experience with dbt and dimensional modeling (star schemas). |
|
Programming |
Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, and transformations. |
|
Engineering Rigor |
Experience with Git/GitHub, code reviews, and implementing data quality frameworks (e.g., dbt tests, Great Expectations). |
|
Soft Skills |
Ability to translate complex findings for non-technical audiences and operate comfortably in ambiguous environments. |
Bonus Points
- Experience with semantic modeling layers like LookML
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Hevo, Airflow, Dagster)
- Background in high-growth startup or tech environments
- Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools (Atlan, etc.)
- Understanding of AI/ML applications and prompt engineering for LLMs
- Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design
