Job Description:
Electric Distribution Operator
Location: Richmond, VA (On-site)
Schedule: Rotating 24/7 Shift Work (AM/PM shifts, rotating days off, overtime, and emergency storm callouts required).

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage service restoration and distribution switching activities. This role is critical to maintaining grid integrity and ensuring the safety of personnel and the public. You will utilize extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems to manage circuit outages, handle emergency conditions, and keep leadership informed of system status.
The successful candidate will enter a comprehensive Switching Training Program, with the goal of becoming a certified Regional Operations Center (ROC) Switcher within 12–16 months.
Core Responsibilities

Coordinate real-time service restoration and electrical distribution switching.

Analyze complex datasets from multiple sources to develop and execute action plans.

Monitor and report on system conditions, critical customer interruptions, and extended outages.

Maintain meticulous accuracy in all reporting to prevent errors and ensure safety.

Handle sensitive company and personal information with high integrity.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Education:
-
Minimum 1+ years of relevant experience.
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Preferred background in Utility Operations, Dispatching, Emergency Services, or complex Database Management.

Multi-tasking: Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish while navigating constantly shifting priorities.

Critical Thinking: Ability to work under high pressure and make sound, well-thought-out decisions.

System Knowledge: A fundamental understanding of Electrical Distribution Systems and mainframe computer applications.
