Job Description:
We are seeking a Lead RF Engineer to drive the design, analysis, testing, and integration of advanced Radio Frequency (RF) systems and technologies. Located 100% on-site at the Naval Station Norfolk, this senior technical role involves evaluating complex system performance, conducting digital RF spectrum analysis, and troubleshooting high-consequence system issues to meet critical mission requirements. The ideal candidate will operate independently on advanced engineering assignments, lead verification and validation (V&V) activities, and serve as a technical mentor to junior engineering personnel.
Key Responsibilities

Advanced RF & Circuit Design: Independently design electronic circuits, components, and integrated systems leveraging the unique material properties of ferroelectrics, non-linears, dielectrics, phosphorescents, photoconductives, and thermoelectrics.

Test Engineering & Instrumentation: Independently design test control apparatus and equipment. Formulate rigorous product testing procedures and direct fabrication teams in building test control setups.

Spectrum Analysis & System Evaluation: Perform advanced digital RF spectrum analysis and hardware testing to validate design viability. Diagnose complex RF system anomalies and engineer modifications to eliminate malfunctions or pivot to changing mission parameters.

Field Operations Oversight: Direct on-site field operations and oversee the technical maintenance of complex electronic installations at the naval base.

Verification & Validation (V&V): Support end-to-end system design, development, and integration. Author and execute V&V procedures to ensure full compliance with internal standards and external Navy requirements.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as the technical lead for specialized project tasks. Provide definitive technical direction, assign limited tasks, and assist in the evaluation, training, and professional development of junior engineering staff.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

Experience: Six (6) or more years of full-time, professional systems engineering experience.

Domain Expertise: Must possess at least two (2) years of concentrated, system-level experience in one or more of the following areas:

Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) & Risk Assessment

Performance, Productivity, and Trade Studies/Analyses

Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Post-Delivery Support

Technical Skills & Core Competencies

RF Modeling & Simulation: Proven experience performing detailed RF, communications, and signal processing analysis utilizing MATLAB (or equivalent RF simulation toolkits).

Operating Systems: Strong hands-on proficiency working within Linux-based technical environments.

Tools & Software: Mastery of computer-assisted engineering (CAE) and computer-aided design (CAD) software tailored to RF applications.

Problem Solving: Exceptional ability to work independently to isolate and resolve complex, multi-variable technical problems under mission-driven timelines.

Communication: Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills necessary to lead cross-functional engineering tasks and brief project stakeholders.
