Job Details:
Title: Sr. Benefits Supervisor
Location: Richmond, VA
Compensation: $120000 – $140000 /per Year
Work Type: Direct Hire

Job Description:
Under limited direction, administer employee benefit plans, including health and welfare, savings, and pension plans. Responsibilities include benefits plan design, compliance, recommending plan changes or modifications, developing implementation strategies, preparing communications, and overseeing data and invoice administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support and counsel on company-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs to active employees and retirees.

Oversee administration of short-term and long-term leave programs ensuring communication with appropriate parties, processing of claims and entry into the HRIS system.

Administer savings plan administration and pension plans including non-discrimination testing, annual audits, Form 5500 filings, participant inquiries and annual communication requirements.

Interface with benefit providers as necessary to resolve complex and/or complicated issues.

Work with Benefits Service Advocate and Savings Plan recordkeeper to evaluate market trends, proposed changes in benefit programs, and recommend appropriate modifications to senior management.

Oversee the process for monthly premium payments and direct bill for benefits.

Administer the annual open enrollment process, including coordinating with HRIS to set up the open enrollment sessions, testing, training, and communication to employees about the process and explaining changes or enhancements to the health and welfare benefits program.

Develop effective programs of written materials to communicate benefit and retirement plans and conduct informational meetings as needed to explain benefits to hourly employees, salaried employees, and retirees.

Monitor third-party performance and ensure that plans comply with applicable ERISA, IRS, Department of Labor, and SEC regulations. Responsibilities include annual required reporting, Form 5500 filings, ACA, FAS, and nondiscrimination testing.

Serve as backup for new hire orientations and review employee file documentation and HRIS entries after the HR Representative compiles and enters new hire information.

Provide support in other areas of HR as needed, including special projects and vacation coverage.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:
-
Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.

Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of benefits plan design, theories and practices typically obtained by working in similar roles of increasing responsibility for 8 or more years.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
-
Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred.

For internal company employees, an appropriate combination of experiences that will support the required skill base may replace one or more of the specific experience requirements above.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrated in-depth working knowledge of benefit plan design, theories, and practices.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Broad working knowledge of the technical aspects of employee benefit programs.

Ability to apply cost-control practices and principles effectively.

Sound technical and business judgment regarding benefit plans.

Ability to organize complex activities involving projects, processes, and people.

Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in decision-making.

Ability to build and maintain effective peer and organizational relationships.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities, interruptions, and deadlines.
