Job Description:
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Network Design Engineer to join our team in a 100% onsite capacity. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing complex, carrier-grade network infrastructure. A major focus will be leading the migration from our current Juniper-based WAN to a new, state-of-the-art Cisco SD-WAN platform. If you have deep expertise in BGP, MPLS, enterprise routing, and integrating with commercial ISPs, and you thrive in a challenging, mission-critical environment, we encourage you to apply.
 Core Responsibilities
-
Network Architecture & Design: Lead the design, implementation, and management of robust enterprise and service provider networks, ensuring seamless integration with commercial ISPs (e.g., AT&T) and secure datacenter environments.
-
SD-WAN Migration Leadership: Architect, configure, and implement a new Cisco-based SD-WAN solution, spearheading the strategic migration away from the existing JUNOS platform.
-
Advanced Routing & Switching: Configure, optimize, and manage core routing protocols, including BGP and MPLS, maintaining the overall enterprise routing architecture.
-
WAN Performance & Availability: Manage and troubleshoot WAN connectivity, performing expert-level performance tuning and optimization to guarantee maximum availability and reliability.
-
VPN Solutions: Deploy, configure, and provide expert support for various secure VPN solutions, including site-to-site and encrypted tunnels over public networks.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams to transform complex business objectives and security mandates into resilient, scalable, and fully documented network solutions.
-
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain high-quality network design documentation, configurations, operational procedures, and contribute to the team’s knowledge base.
-
Tier 3 Support & Mentorship: Serve as the final escalation point for complex network issues and actively mentor junior engineers to foster technical growth within the team.
✅ Required Qualifications
Experience & Technical Skills
-
10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, specifically working with commercial ISPs/service providers and integrating carrier connectivity into enterprise datacenter environments.
-
Demonstrated mastery of core routing protocols, including BGP and MPLS, within a large-scale enterprise environment.
-
Extensive hands-on experience with Juniper networking platforms (configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization). Cisco experience is a significant advantage, particularly experience with Cisco SD-WAN.
-
Proven expertise in managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing diverse WAN links for high-performance and availability.
-
Deep experience configuring and supporting various VPN solutions (e.g., site-to-site, IPsec tunnels).
Clearance & Certifications
-
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance is mandatory.
-
DoD 8570/8140 IAT-III Certification: Must possess a current IAT-III certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, or equivalent).
-
Core Technical Certification: Must hold a CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or a high-level Juniper certification (JNCIP/JNCIE).
-
Functional Area Certifications: Required prior to start.
