IT Implementation Engineer (Voice & Telecom)

Remote
9 Month Contract

We are looking for an IT Implementation Engineer to join our project team. You will lead the transition of legacy voice services—like traditional phone lines (POTS), faxes, and alarms—to modern, standard solutions or handle their retirement. This role combines the skills of a Technical Business Analyst and a Project Coordinator.

Core Responsibilities

• Audit & Analyze: Evaluate current phone, fax, and alarm services at 20–30+ sites to determine what needs to be upgraded or shut down.

• Manage Migrations: Order and oversee the installation of “POTS-in-a-Box” for alarms and transition phone lines to modern VoIP services (e.g., AT&T BVoIP).

• Vendor Coordination: Work with third-party providers to schedule installations, port phone numbers, and disconnect old services.

• Site Support: Coordinate directly with local branch contacts to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to daily business.

• Documentation: Keep detailed, real-time records of project progress using tools like Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, and Excel.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Problem Solving: Dive into complex data to find solutions for unique site setups.

• Project Tracking: Manage multiple locations simultaneously, moving them through analysis, installation, and final testing.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as a bridge between technical teams (engineering, security) and non-technical stakeholders (branch staff).

Requirements

• Experience: At least 3 years in voice telecommunications.

• Telecom Knowledge: Solid understanding of legacy phone lines (POTS), e-fax, and how alarm systems communicate.

• Project Skills: Experience managing large-scale, multi-site projects and handling several tasks at once.

• Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

• Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to cross-reference information from different sources and spot small details that could impact a project.

Preferred Extras

• Familiarity with AT&T porting processes or platforms like MetTel Bruin, Zendesk, or ServiceChannel.

• Knowledge of specific technologies like EtherFAX or POTS-in-a-Box.

• Experience working effectively in a remote team environment.
