We are partnering with a highly respected, rapidly evolving leader in the insurance and financial services industry to find a Data Product Owner. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role with overall responsibility for the organization’s entire data product portfolio, including leading and mentoring a small team of 1-2 other Data Product Owners.

You will be the central hub, defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap to maximize the business value of data through best-in-class solutions—including advanced AI/ML capabilities, sophisticated dashboards, and robust reporting. If you are a visionary who can translate complex business challenges into high-impact, actionable data features, we want to hear from you.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for all data products, ensuring alignment with critical business objectives.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and mentor 1-2 other Data Product Owners on best practices, processes, and methodologies in data product management.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the key collaborator between Data Scientists, Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to prioritize the backlog and manage the development lifecycle from ideation to production.
  • Data Integrity & Governance: Own the quality, security, and compliance of the data product, ensuring adherence to industry regulations, data governance standards, and robust access controls.
  • Hands-on Validation: Utilize your strong technical skills, including SQL expertise, to perform user acceptance and production testing, querying and validating the underlying data.
  • Performance Measurement: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and drive continuous optimization and insights.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a business, analytical, or technical discipline.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Data Product Owner with a track record of successful data product delivery.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience within the financial services, insurance, or related highly-regulated industry, with a strong understanding of industry-specific data.
    • Strong preference for expertise in insurance data (e.g., claims and actuary).
  • Technical Acumen:
    • Strong hands-on experience with SQL for data analysis and validation.
    • Advanced understanding of data technologies (data warehouses, data lakes, etc.) and a conceptual understanding of AI and ML models.
    • Experience implementing data governance capabilities (data definitions, data quality, etc.) into the product lifecycle.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, with excellent oral and written communication skills to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
