AI Data Steward – Financial Services (Richmond, VA)

Location: Richmond, VA

The Opportunity

Join a premier financial services firm in the Richmond area as we undergo a massive digital and AI transformation. We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced AI Data Steward to be the chief architect of data integrity. In this high-stakes environment, your expertise will be crucial in building the secure, compliant, and accurate data foundation required to power our next generation of AI-driven decision-making and innovation. This role is a direct line to significant business impact and offers the chance to define best-in-class data governance for a highly regulated industry.

Primary Responsibilities

• Data Governance Policy Enforcement: Implement and strictly enforce data standards, policies, and procedures across the organization.
• Data Quality Management: Define, monitor, and maintain metrics for data accuracy, completeness, and consistency, actively working to correct issues and reduce duplication.
• Metadata Management: Create and maintain comprehensive business glossaries and data dictionaries, ensuring metadata is fully documented and understood by all stakeholders.
• Data Security and Compliance: Ensure all data is properly classified, secured, and handled in strict compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Data Lifecycle Management: Define and manage procedures for data retention, archiving, and secure disposal.
• Collaboration and Support: Serve as the critical bridge between IT and business teams to resolve complex data issues, improve data workflows, and champion data literacy across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, or a related Data Management discipline.
• Proven expertise in data-related regulatory compliance within the financial services or insurance industry.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and master data management principles.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
