Job Description:

We are seeking a highly seasoned Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our mission-critical systems team. This role is designed for a technical powerhouse who excels in the intersection of Big Data architectures, Distributed Computing, and Signal Intelligence (SIGINT).

You will be responsible for architecting, debugging, and managing complex multi-node cloud installations while ensuring high-performance information retrieval and data parsing across disparate formats.

Core Responsibilities

System Architecture: Design and architect robust Cloud Computing solutions and Distributed Computing frameworks.
Big Data Engineering: Implement complex MapReduce analytics and develop code that interacts directly with Cloud Big Table and Distributed File Systems (HDFS).
Infrastructure Management: Manage and install multi-node Cloud installations using automation tools like Python, Bash, or CFEngine.
Security & Assurance: Secure distributed applications using industry-standard techniques including PKI Certificates, Server Authentication, and Firewalls.
Data Analysis: Ingest, parse, and analyze disparate data sources (XML, JSON, Avro, etc.) to support SIGINT collection and signal characterization.
Performance Tuning: Debug and profile distributed installations, specifically focusing on JVM memory management and application profiling.

Experience & Education Requirements

Base Qualifications

12 years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Substitution: 4 years of additional cloud-specific experience can replace the degree.
- Education Credit: A Master’s degree substitutes for 2 years of general experience.
4 years of experience specifically in Big Data cloud technologies or Distributed Computing.

Cloud-Specific Technical Requirements

2 years of Cloud/Distributed Information Retrieval (IR).
1 year of hands-on experience in each of the following:
- Cloud Big Table & Distributed File Systems (HDFS).
- Complex MapReduce analytics.
- Distributed Coordination Frameworks (e.g., Zookeeper).
- Architecting and debugging Cloud-based frameworks.
- Managing multi-node Cloud installations.
