Job Description:
Operations & Maintenance Technician II
Direct Hire
10% office work and 90% field work (day travel)
Candidates must live in one of this areas: Richmond VA, Norfolk/Chesapeake VA, Northern VA, Baltimore MD
We are seeking a skilled and motivated O&M Technician II to support the performance and reliability of our solar PV and energy storage asset portfolio. This role plays a critical part in system operations and maintenance, including monitoring, preventative inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations & Maintenance, this is a field-focused position (90% field / 10% office) with opportunities for technical growth as part of a career progression series.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Maintenance

Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete detailed electronic reports.

Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues both remotely and on-site, documenting findings and root causes.

Execute corrective actions, including component removal/replacement and related repairs.

Utilize monitoring platforms to assess system performance and flag issues.

Manage warranty replacements, RMAs, and coordinate spare parts and equipment.
Planning & Administration

Review and prepare for assigned work orders, ensuring all tools and materials are ready.

Maintain personal inventory, tools, and assigned vehicle.

Submit service documentation and warranty claims in a timely and accurate manner.

Assist with inventory management and logistics related to replacement components.
Relationship Management

Maintain strong relationships with site hosts, off-takers, asset owners, and internal teams through clear, timely, and proactive communication.

Represent the company professionally while adhering to all site access and conduct protocols.
Safety & Continuous Learning
-
Uphold all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE per OSHA and NFPA 70E guidelines.

Identify hazards and apply controls; use stop work authority as needed.

Continuously develop technical expertise across inverters, trackers, substations, and data acquisition systems.

Maintain required operator licenses and certifications.
Qualifications
Required
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting of commercial or utility-scale PV systems

Valid driver’s license
Preferred
-
Familiarity with electrical and construction plans
-
Working knowledge of NEC and solar PV system design
-
Nextracker/ATI tracker certification
-
NABCEP System Inspector certification (or equivalent)

Strong computer literacy and technical reporting skills

Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities

Working Conditions

Primarily field-based with local day travel (90% field / 10% office)

On-call rotation for emergencies and outages

Physical demands include walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs in various weather conditions
