Job Description:

Network & Communications Engineer (Top Secret/SCI) | Onsite – Suffolk, VA

Are you a highly skilled Network & Communications Engineer ready to tackle complex challenges and make a significant impact? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our dynamic team in Suffolk, VA. In this crucial 100% onsite role, you will be at forefront of designing, implementing, and supporting critical network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do):

As our Network & Communications Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the Charge: Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, from critical outages to performance degradation, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Build & Configure: Skillfully configure network equipment and services, laying the groundwork for robust and resilient systems.
  • Strategize & Implement: Develop and execute comprehensive network implementation and migration plans for new installations and upgrades.
  • Test & Validate: Rigorously test and support network enclaves through all stages of deployment, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Optimize & Secure: Audit and assess network enclaves against customer requirements and industry best practices, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhanced security.
  • Innovate & Advise: Contribute to the formulation of forward-thinking network management strategies and provide expert recommendations to optimize network operation and performance.
  • Document & Collaborate: Produce and review high-quality technical documentation and work closely with internal and customer project management and technical teams.

Must-Have Qualifications (What You Bring):

  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is mandatory.
  • IAT Level II Certification: You must hold one of the following:
    • Security+ CE
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
    • Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP)
    • System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
    • RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator
    • RHCDS Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist
  • AND: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Technical Prowess:
    • Professional-level understanding and hands-on experience with TCP/IP and IP routing protocols (especially OSPF, BGP, PIM).
    • Deep knowledge of WAN technologies including mBGP, MPLS, and SD-WAN.
    • Expertise with GRE, IPSec, and Type-1 cryptographic devices (e.g., L3/General Dynamics).
    • Strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS.
    • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching platforms.
    • Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot in multi-vendor environments.
    • Solid understanding of common network security controls, particularly firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
    • Familiarity with SCRUM methodologies.
    • In-depth experience and knowledge of SolarWinds.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
