Job Description:

This role is for a Network Technician responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network systems. The position requires a mix of hands-on cabling work and advanced network administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Management & Support: You’ll be the go-to person for network connectivity issues, providing support and troubleshooting problems. This includes diagnosing, resolving, and escalating issues as needed to enhance network performance.

• Installation & Cabling: This is a hands-on role that involves installing, terminating, and troubleshooting CAT 5/6 and fiber optic cables. You will also be responsible for installing cable support systems, termination blocks, and patch panels.

• System Analysis & Monitoring: You’ll use enterprise-level tools like Wireshark, Solar Winds, and NMAP to monitor and manage network performance, analyze bandwidth requirements, and contribute to capacity planning.

• Equipment Configuration: You’ll configure network equipment using tools and protocols such as Cisco ISE, VLANs, Spanning Tree, Trunking, ARP, and DHCP.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience: An associate’s degree in a related field and 1-2 years of experience, or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. A minimum of 2 years of experience in enterprise-level cabling installation is also required.

• Technical Expertise: You must be proficient in using basic hand tools for cabling, have knowledge of category-rated testers, and possess advanced knowledge of fiber optic cable requirements.

• Network Certifications: A Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required. Candidates who don’t have it must be willing to obtain it within six months of being hired.

• Cisco Knowledge: You should have working familiarity and hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, VLANs, and routing protocols, including configuring Cisco switches.

• Clearance: Must have an active secret clearance.

• Communication: The ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.
