Job Description:

Communications and IT Program Specialist

This role is vital to the Air Force  mission to secure, sustain, and effectively deliver IT services across Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB) and its geographically separated units (GSUs). You will support the broader Air Force Information Network (AFIN) enterprise by ensuring information systems are secure and operational. Success requires strong integration, flexibility, AFIN knowledge, and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as a Program and Project Management expert, focusing on the planning, execution, and compliance of communications and IT initiatives.

• Program and Project Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define, validate, and document requirements for IT system refresh, modernization, and sustained maintenance.

• Requirements Management: Execute plans by developing critical documents, including Communication Systems Requirement Documents (CSRDs), budget requests, Statements of Work (SOW), and agreements (MOUs/MOAs).

• Program Administration: Assist managers with key programs like CSRDs, Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS), Budget execution, and Operational restoration.

• Compliance and Standards: Ensure all projects and programs adhere to Federal, DoD, and DAF regulations, including the DoD Cyber Security Risk Management Framework (RMF) and MPTO 00-33A-1001.

• Customer Support and Synchronization: Act as a liaison with external customers to identify IT needs, assist with requirement development (CSRDs), and synchronize activities with government Point of Contacts (POCs).

• System Engineering Support: Provide technical solutions, cost estimates, site surveys, and life-cycle support for system upgrades, aligning with the AF enterprise architecture.

Job Requirements

• Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant technical/professional experience. (An additional 4 years of experience may substitute for the degree.)

• Clearance: Active Secret level DoD security clearance is required.

• Skills:

  • Familiarity with AF enterprise tools, including CSRD, CIPS, CIPS-CVC, and Remedy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
