Job Description:

System Engineer 

Seeking a skilled System Engineer to deliver IT engineering and technical services for a wide range of system engineering and support functions in Norfolk, VA. You will be instrumental in the operation and maintenance of networks and associated hardware and software. Collaborating closely with customers, you will design, plan, implement, upgrade, and maintain cutting-edge data center technologies, with a strong focus on VMware, NetApp, and Cisco Data Center and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively manage Cisco HyperFlex, VMware vSphere/Vcenter/ESXi, and Horizon platforms supporting the USFF Data Center.
• Swiftly and effectively identify, troubleshoot, and communicate hardware and software technical issues for diverse customers.
• Ensure solutions are implemented according to design and meet customer satisfaction.
• Design, build, deploy, and manage linked-clone image technology on the VMware/Horizon View (VDI) platform.
• Develop high-quality technical documentation, including design, as-built, and connectivity specifications.
• Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps to anticipate and meet client needs.
• Participate in creating and implementing VMware and VDI operational procedures and define standards for virtual desktops.
• Maintain system, network, and application security integrity, including managing C&A packages and ensuring compliance with current Information Assurance policies.
• Apply Defense in Depth methodologies to harden all associated networks and systems.
• Provide 24×7 on-call technical support for USFF operational needs.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Nutanix and Redhat technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related technical field; or an Associate’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering with an additional 2 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing data center technologies, including the planning, development, implementation, and support of vSphere, VMware virtual switching, vMotion, HA, Horizon View, and NetApp platforms.
• CompTIA SEC+ certification.
• Must possess an active Secret security clearance.

This position is 100% on site in Norfolk, VA
