Job Description:

As a Systems Analyst at the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our data monitoring capabilities. You’ll work to identify and implement innovative solutions that improve system and network monitoring, ensuring the reliability of critical meteorological and oceanographic data flows. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive problem-solver who can take an existing codebase and evolve it with incremental, high-impact improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Monitoring Initiatives: Coordinate and lead meetings to define new monitoring requirements and tasks, focusing on solutions with a rapid return on investment.

• Analyze and Improve Systems: Proactively monitor and analyze systems and networks to identify predictable problems and develop new monitoring tools or enhancements.

• Develop and Implement Solutions: Design, test, and implement new software and system solutions that are compatible with existing FNMOC infrastructure and authorized DoD/Navy software.

• Maintain and Troubleshoot: Respond to operational problems, troubleshoot issues, and document all changes to data structures, software, and procedures.

• Collaborate and Report: Provide input for monthly status reports and work with other teams to ensure seamless integration of new solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 5+ years of progressive experience in systems analysis, development, and implementation, with at least one year of project management or supervisory experience.

• Experience with Linux (RHEL 8), Python, and Shell/PERL scripting.

• Strong background in data engineering or data analysis, including working with unstructured data/log files and using Jupyter Notebooks, regex, and virtual environments.

• Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and data visualization techniques.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

• Must have a DoD Secret Clearance.

• Must have a CompTIA Sec+ certification
