Job Description:

Finance Director – Government Contracting

We seek an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring the company’s fiscal health and regulatory adherence within the federal contracting environment. This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position in Chesapeake, VA.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Financial Oversight: Develop and execute financial strategies, driving growth and profitability in partnership with executive leadership.

• Compliance & Accounting: Direct all accounting functions, maintain DCAA-compliant internal controls, and ensure adherence to FAR, CAS, and GAAP.

• Government Contracting Finance: Oversee indirect rate structure, manage annual audits, incurred cost submissions, and tax filings.

• Pricing & Proposals: Partner on compliant and competitive pricing strategies; review cost volumes and support contract negotiations.

• Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

• Financial Management: Optimize processes for budgeting, forecasting, cash management, revenue recognition, and invoicing.

Essential Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in federal government contracting.

• Deep expertise in FAR, CAS, DCAA, DCMA, and GAAP.

• Proven experience managing indirect rates and incurred cost submissions.

• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

• Demonstrated knowledge of FFP, T&M, and CP contract types.

• Hands-on experience with CostPoint ERP is required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

• Excellent communication, executive presence, and proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced GovCon environment.
