Job Description:

Technical Writer (Full Scope Poly Required)

Technical Writer requiring an active Full Scope Polygraph clearance, and 100% on-site work in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

This role is responsible for the creation, editing, and maintenance of high-quality, precise technical documentation covering the full spectrum of software, systems engineering, operations, and user guides within a classified environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Documentation Creation & Maintenance: Prepare, review, revise, and maintain comprehensive technical documents, including:

  • Software and systems engineering documentation.

  • System operations and testing documentation.

  • User guides, installation guides, configuration guides, and “how-to” documentation.

• Technical Writing & Editing: Write and edit clear, grammatically sound technical copy for various document types.

• Information Gathering: Research highly technical subject matter, gather technical information from engineering documentation, technical drawings, consultations with engineers/SMEs, and other available resources.

• Specialized Document Production: Produce critical documentation such as:

  • Code documentation for software.

  • Implementation guides and end-user guides.

  • Field, data definition, and data flow documentation.

  • Defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, and training manuals.

• Standards Compliance: Apply technical manual standards, such as NSA DS-89, to ensure work products meet required agency specifications, particularly within Cryptologic programs or projects.

• Tools & Format: Utilize multiple word processing and presentation tools (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio) to format technical publications and coordinate the layout and design of documents.

• Audience Adaptation: Interpret complex engineering and operational procedures and translate large quantities of computer-related information into a written form that is comprehensible to a wide range of readers and audiences.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.

  OR

• Four (4) years of additional TW experience (a total of 10 years) may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
