Job Description:
Information System Project Architect (DevSecOps)
Location: Suffolk, VA (100% Onsite)
Clearance: TS/SCI Required
Position Overview
As the Information System Project Architect, you will be the technical linchpin for the DevSecOps pipeline and core data center infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between complex mission requirements and scalable technology solutions.
This role demands a “Player-Coach” mentality: you will lead the architectural vision, manage the project lifecycle, and mentor cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure simulation services for the DoD.
Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership: Own the end-to-end design, documentation, and engineering management of technology solutions tailored to solve specific mission challenges.

Strategic Vision: Conduct deep-dive analyses of existing tech environments to develop a roadmap that aligns with DDJT’s mission objectives and DevSecOps maturity.

Mission Liaison: Act as the primary interface between technical engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical hurdles into actionable business insights.

Full-Lifecycle Project Management: Develop comprehensive project plans, including budget oversight, resource allocation, and schedule management, ensuring all milestones meet rigorous quality standards.

DevSecOps & Risk Governance: Integrate security, scalability, and performance into the design phase. Identify potential project risks early and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance and mission success.

Knowledge Management: Document best practices and technical architectures to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team.
Technical & Professional Expertise
System & Cloud Architecture
-
Expertise in both monolithic and distributed architectures, including high-level and low-level system design.

Advanced proficiency in Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Deep understanding of API design, DevOps automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
Security & Networking
-
Robust knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, network protocols, and DoD security best practices.

Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and various programming frameworks.
Project Management & Strategy
-
Proven ability to manage budgets and complex project schedules.

Fluency in both Agile (Scrum/XP) and Waterfall methodologies.

Strong business acumen with the ability to align technical decisions with overarching DoD goals.
Required Qualifications
Security Clearance
-
Active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.
Certifications
-
DoD 8570 Compliance: Must hold a current IAT Level III or IAM Level II certification.

Examples: CASP+ CE, CCSP, or CISSP.

Functional Certification: Ability to provide a relevant functional area certification prior to start date.
Education & Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).

Experience Thresholds:
-
Master’s Degree: 5+ years of experience.

Bachelor’s Degree: 10+ years of experience.

Specialized Experience: * Proven track record in data design and defining IT strategy/architecture.
-
Experience mentoring technical staff and delivering innovative simulation services.
-
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience supporting DoD major systems or programs.
