Job Description:

Location: San Diego, CA (100% Onsite)

Clearance: Active Secret

As a Systems Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical architect and cornerstone for the NIWC PAC Information Technology Management Support Services contract. You aren’t just maintaining systems; you are designing the enterprise-level backbone that supports critical naval information warfare initiatives. This role requires a blend of high-level strategic planning, robust security integration, and “hands-on” technical mastery to ensure our infrastructure is scalable, resilient, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Design and deploy enterprise-grade IT ecosystems, encompassing advanced server configurations, high-capacity storage solutions, and complex networking infrastructure.

• System Optimization: Proactively monitor and tune system performance to guarantee 24/7 high availability and reliability for mission-critical applications.

• Security Integration: Architect and implement rigorous security protocols to protect sensitive organizational data, ensuring all infrastructure projects meet or exceed DoD security standards.

• Collaborative Engineering: Act as the primary bridge for application development teams, providing expert guidance on system integration, emerging technologies, and requirements engineering.

• Strategic Scalability: Conduct capacity planning and lifecycle analysis to ensure IT infrastructure evolves ahead of technological shifts and operational demands.

• Technical Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of infrastructure designs, configurations, and operational processes to ensure total transparency and system health tracking.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related STEM field.

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, with a proven track record in a senior-level, autonomous role.

• Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance.

• Cybersecurity Compliance: Must meet IAT Level II requirements. Valid certifications include:

  • Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.

Core Competencies

• Enterprise Architecture: Mastery of EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) and large-scale infrastructure roll-outs.

• Systems Analysis: Expertise in requirements engineering and technical specification design.

• Data Management: Proficiency in storage engineering, compatibility testing, and data security.

• Network Mastery: Deep understanding of network architecture, scalability, and secure infrastructure design.

• Problem Solving: Ability to apply programming logic and systems theory to resolve “wicked” technical challenges in a complex environment.
